What is Broken is Beautiful

  • Mackinac Island Community Hall 7358 Market Street Mackinac Island, Michigan, 49757 United States (map)

Kintsugi is the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery with gold. Instead of hiding the cracks, the artist honors the history of the piece and carefully brings each fragment back together. The finished piece becomes beautiful not because it's flawless, but because every part has been acknowledged and lovingly restored. Healing can look a lot like that. Join us for an evening of creativity, reflection, and connection as you transform broken pottery into a beautiful work of art - and explore what it means to meet your own story with greater compassion and hope. No artistic experience needed. Just come as you are. Hosted in partnership with Straits Pride and Mackinac Redhead.

Your Ticket Includes:

  • Your choice of a ceramic bowl, plate, cup, or vase

  • All kintsugi and art materials

  • Protective eyewear and safety supplies

  • Guided workbook and journal pages

  • Teaching from Alicia Decker & Dr. Andrea Bassett
