This scholarship seeks to encourage and support queer identified students and allies in the Straits of Mackinac region (Mackinac County, Emmet County, and Cheboygan County) in continuing their education and advocacy for the LGBTQ+ community.
Submit an approximately 500 word essay about their experience as a queer person or ally in the Straits of Mackinac region, answering the question “What does your experience as a queer identifying person or ally in the Straits of Mackinac region mean to you”
You must also complete a minimum of 5 hours of volunteer time with Straits Pride by 5/31/24. Award amount of $1000 for the 2024-2025 academic year. One winner will be selected for the 2024-2025 academic year.

Come work with us! We are in constant need of help at events. Volunteers have the opportunity to attend events where they are working for free. For scholarship applicants, volunteering contributes to your eligibility for funding.
